Rural Social Research

The Rural Social Research Program undertakes applied social research that contributes to developing sustainable agriculture, promoting natural resource management, and enhancing the quality of life in rural and regional areas.

Activities include research into the social basis of farming, understanding social consequences of agricultural technologies, improving extension practice, and social factors that affect the adoption of environmental management systems and the achievement of natural resource management outcomes.
